Product Description

Fishing rod holder for boats, flush fitting, with an angle of approximately 60-degrees between the mounting surface and the line of the tube.  This rod holder is designed to be fitted 'flush' with the surface of your boat.  Usually these fishing rod holders are fitted in the fibreglass surrounding the cockpit of your boat.

The inner diameter of the rod holder tube is 40mm.  Use the rubber cap, supplied, to close off the top of the rod holder when not in use, to stop rain-water getting in.

Fishing Rod Holder Fitting Instructions

  1. First take some time to find the perfect place to fit your rod holder.  The ideal place should be on a relatively flat surface (without much curvature), and should be chosen to point your fishing rod in a good direction for you.  Also it is very important to make sure there is plenty of room for the tube part of the rod holder, beneath the mounting surface.
  2. Carefully mark the centre point where you will be making the large hole needed for the tube to fit through.  At this point, double check that there is enough space for the mounting flange to fully contact the fibreglass.  Also check that there is plenty of space for the 3 fixing holes, and suitable access if you plan to use a nut and bolted method.
  3. Use masking tape on the surface to be drilled, then mark the centre point
  4. Drill a small pilot hole at the centre point
  5. Use a suitably sized hole saw to cut the centre hole, you may have to slightly elongate the hole with a file or rotary tool to account for the angle of the tube.
  6. Put the rod holder into position, and check its alignment.  Then mark through the 3 fixing hole places, to determine the positions where you will need to drill through the fibreglass for your fixings.  Before drilling your fixing holes, carefully check the correct diameter depending on whether you are using self-tapping screws or set-screws.
  7. Test the fit of the rod holder and fixings.  Once you are completely happy with the fit, do the final assembly with some silicone sealant underneath the rubber gasket, between the gasket and the rod-holder, and under the heads of the fixings.
